share save 171 16 After Publishing Upheaval, Multi Published Author Gini Graham Scott Finds New Career Helping Individuals Write, Publish, and Promote Their Books or Find an Agent and Publisher

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2013

Since the publishing industry has gone through an upheaval and downsizing over the last six years, it has become much more difficult for writers to get published by mainstream publishers, unless they are well-known, high-profile superstars, regularly in the news, or notorious for some crime or scandal. As a result, besides publishing some of her own books with smaller publishers or through her own company Changemakers Publishing, Gini Graham Scott, author of 50+ books with mainstream publishers, has found a new career helping individuals write their books as a ghostwriter or co-writer. Then she has helped them find an agent or publisher or self-publish and promote their own books. Commonly, clients do both, using the self-published book to build their credibility and gain recognition and sales; then they can sell the book to a larger publisher. Some individuals have sold film rights to their published book.

Typically, Gini Scott works with one or two clients at a time, since it generally takes a few weeks to write a proposal with two or three chapters, and about 6 to 8 weeks to write a book, once she has gathered the information needed from a client from notes, journals, or interviews. Her clients have varied widely, from self-help and business books to memoirs and novels.

In many cases, her clients have been victimized in some way, so that now they want to write about their experience and use it to look for flaws in the system. For instance, the wife of one of her recent clients was victimized by the criminal justice system, after the lies of some neighborhood children and their parents led to charges against her, resulting in a long expensive fight to show the kids lied and clear her name. But the power of the police, prosecutors, judges, and others in the criminal justice system was too great, leading to an unfair plea bargain that kept her out of jail, but she and her husband had to move and sell their house at a loss. As a result, besides telling their story, her husband wanted to write a detailed critique of the criminal justice system and how to change it to become a fairer, more equitable system.

Many other clients who have gained success want to tell their story and the strategies they used to become successful to help others do the same, while contributing to their own career as a speaker and seminar leader. For example, her most recent client is a self-made millionaire who went through a series of hard luck experiences, including being homeless and living in his truck for several months, until he could get back on his feet. But eventually, based on using motivational techniques and a faith in God, he became a multi-millionaire through investing in real estate and putting on seminars to teach others his system.

Gini Graham Scott has recently become a regular HuffPost columnist, primarily commenting on social trends and the quirkiness of everyday life. She also turned her experiences in surviving and thriving after the mortgage meltdown into a series of books about how she sold her house under the threat of foreclosure and moved to a rental in San Francisco. The complete series was published as Living in Limbo: From the End to New Beginnings. She additionally turned her experience into a music videos with about 500 views which tells her story: Bad Bad Banks.

Gini Graham Scott is the founder of Changemakers Publishing and Writing and the author of over 50 published books. She received a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California in Berkeley, a J.D. from the University of San Francisco Law School, and M.A.s in Anthropology, Mass Communications and Organizational/Consumer/Audience Behavior and Popular Culture and Lifestyles at California State University, East Bay. She is getting an additional MS in Recreation and Tourism in 2013 and writing her final thesis on finding funds for independent films, which will be published by Hal Leonard. She has spoken about the topics of her books to many groups and the media, including appearances on Good Morning America, Oprah, and CNN.

Content Marketing is Now King: The Popular Phrase Gets a Facelift

gI 114599 marketing grand junction content marketing is now king Content Marketing is Now King: The Popular Phrase Gets a Facelift
Grand Junction, CO (PRWEB) February 14, 2013

Previously, the phrase Content is king has circulated through many different marketing channels and strategies. While it was once specifically tailored to the realm of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Entrepreneur magazine gave us some insight back in 2011, and marketers are now cashing in on this concept and its making large waves.

In the past, businesses were at the mercy of radio stations, TV stations, and newspapers for disseminating their content and advertising. Paid advertising was the norm because thats where the attention of consumers heavily rested. With the rise of digital channels including email and the internet, peoples attention now gravitated towards these new mediums. However, in an effort to gain market share, spam emails and website ads continued to gain relevance. Now, the ads posed by websites and spammed email are becoming commonplace which means that consumers can now easily tune them out.

“The answer for businesses lies in the relationship again,” says local business owner dedicated to marketing Grand Junction. While farmers markets are a dying breed, there are still some good lessons to be learned from how businesses and consumers used to conduct transactions. Businesses today are realizing that personal interaction as well as providing value for free is a sure fire way to increase visibility and garner attention.

This type of marketing also gives more incentive for customers to provide personal reviews for a specific business. Word of mouth, and especially positive word of mouth, is always good news for a business and its profits. Social media can be an extremely positive force in this area if used correctly.

What makes content so attractive to consumers? The society in which we live screams for real interactions. When businesses cater to a consumers desire for interactions it creates a bond that is rarely broken. This is the very reason that companies who use a spokesperson to interact with their clients often make a bigger impact. Progressive insurance is a prime example. Flos Facebook page boasts a 4.8 million number of fans, while the corporate Progressive page only has 57,000 likes.

Businesses must be extremely conscious of this fact if they are going to compete in the marketplace in 2013. Those that stick with impersonal communication will be sadly disappointed in the years to come. While those businesses that pay attention to their customers as individuals will reap the benefits of a long-lasting relationship.
